1. The Circulation Desk
Welcome to the Governor John A. Volpe Learning Commons. Your library media specialist is Miss Kelly. She can help you find books, music, videos, screen media, and information of all types. Miss Kelly can also help you with technology. The circulation desk is where you can usually start looking for help in this room from either a TA or the media specialist. Want to check out a book? This is where you go. You can borrow books from this library for two weeks. If you need more time, just ask Miss Kelly. If you'd like to come to the library during your ASC, come visit Miss Kelly at this desk in the morning.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, please remember that:
MOST IMPORTANTLY, please remember that:
- Miss Kelly not grading you. She's here to help. She won't judge you if you procrastinated, didn't read the whole book, or don't know how to begin research. Instead, she'll only work that much harder to help you succeed.
- You can contact Miss Kelly whenever you need help. She is quick to respond to emails. You can contact her here.
- The library is your space- respect the books, respect the furniture, and most of all, respect yourself, your teachers, and classmates.
- The library is a place to study, to read, and to collaborate (not co-blab-erate) with your peers. You can talk, but use an in-the-library voice.
- There's no food allowed in the library (mice and bugs love books more than I do).
- Also, no texting or phone calls.
- ...And no games (unless it is Ender's, The Most Dangerous, or The Hunger).
- Read what you like, we do not promote censorship.
- You may use your computers/phones/MP3 players to listen to music at a reasonable volume using headphones. If someone else can hear it- it's too loud.
